Many thanks to Andrew Blanchard and his students at Converse College for these lovely broadsides. They are for sale at the Hub City Bookshop. Hopefully I will have some better digital images soon as these are photographs of the framed broadsides.
Columbia Broadside Project
The Columbia Broadside Project is a collaborative effort of 28 artists and poets from Columbia and throughout SC. The goal of this project was for the artists and poets to pair up and create 14 original "broadsides," each comprised of a poem and image that somehow correspond to each other. I was fortunate to work with Josh Drews in 2014, who later devoted a series of work to Punch. Last year I was worked with the multi-talented, ever energetic Ashley Berendzen. Josh and I created "A mouth full of honey and dirt" and Ashley and I created "To Stand Without Permission." Both of the artists are just amazing and I cannot thank them enough.
Josh is an incredible artist, and just a really cool guy to hang with. I met him years ago when he was guest artist at the Tri-District Arts Consortium. We were paired recently for the Columbia Broadside Project. Not only did Josh create a really cool broadside, he created a series of prints working with Punch. and they were displayed as part of his "Wear Your Wounds" exhibit at Lander University.
